Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest

Tena, Napo

At the gateway of the Amazon Basin lies Tena, a charming and welcoming city of 40,000 people, surrounded by lush forests and pristine waterfalls. The town offers a few cozy cafés, restaurants, and bars, and just five minutes outside the city, the landscape shifts to rural areas and Kichwa territory where we carry out our work. Almost everyone who visits Tena falls in love with it. Many return, and some choose to stay. According to local legend, it is because of guayusa, the traditional tea of the region. Once you drink it, it draws you back and deepens your connection to the land and its people.

Tena is known for its strong culture of forest stewardship and respect for Indigenous communities and ancestral traditions. Indigenous associations, nonprofit organizations, and eco-conscious businesses all contribute to this shared mission. Our organization is proud to be a part of this network, working alongside Indigenous communities to support the long-term well-being of both the forest and its people.
