high School Programs

Amazon Learning has spent over a decade crafting life-changing 10-14 day immersive programs for high school students in Ecuador, Costa Rica, and beyond. These journeys are designed not just to educate but to transform, opening students’ hearts and minds through cultural exchange, hands-on learning, and meaningful community connection.

Students step far beyond the classroom as they go off the beaten path and experience life in vibrant communities, take part in workshops, service projects, and ecological adventures that bring their studies to life. One favorite experience pairs students with Indigenous youth to forage in the forest and cook a meal together. They gather plants, harvest yuca, and sometimes even catch fish, then prepare the dish side by side over open fires. It is a joyful, hands-on way to connect with the land, the culture, and each other.

All of our activities are fully immersive, connecting with local people at every step including a short stint with local host families. While brief, this host family experience is often the most transformative and emotional part of the journey, giving students a rare chance to learn firsthand about a different way of life.

Each group is supported by experienced facilitators and joined by a faculty member from their school to ensure the experience is intentional. These programs leave a lasting mark, helping young people become engaged members of society.
